HomeVoter Registration

Am I eligible to vote?

You are eligible to register to vote if:

You are a United States citizen;

You are a resident of the county where you submit the application;

You are at least 18 years old on Election Day;

You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole);

You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

I'm not sure if I'm registered to vote; how can I confirm my voter registration status?

You can confirm your registration status on the Texas Secretary of State website at Am I registered?? where you will select one of three methods for conducting your search. You can base your search on: 1. your Voter Unique Identifier (VUID), which appears on your voter registration certificate; 2. your Texas driver's license number, if you provided it when you applied for voter registration; or 3. your first and last name and date of birth.

I'm not registered; how can I register to vote?

You can obtain a voter registration application from the Comal County Election Office (396 N Seguin Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130) or the Guadalupe Elections Office (215 S. Milam Seguin, Texas 78155) weekdays between 8 and 5; public libraries and most post offices, You can also fill out a voter registration application online.  Texas DOES NOT OFFER online voter registration.  After completing this form you must print, sign and mail to the County Elections Office

  I am registered but my name has changed.

You can change your name online HERE

You can file the name change information in writing (complete voter registration form and mark change of name) with the Comal County Election Office (396 N Seguin Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130) or Guadalupe County Election Office (215 S Milam St, Seguin, TX 78155)

 I am registered but my account is on Suspense.  What does that mean and what do I do?

As a common practice, a Notice of Address Confirmation is sent (and an individual is placed on the suspense list) when:
o The voter’s registration certificate has been returned as non-deliverable;
o A Jury Summons is returned as non-deliverable;
o Any mailing that was sent to the voter was returned as non-deliverable;
o The voter registrar has received information indicating the voter no longer resides at the address on the voter’s record.
• If the voter returns the Notice of Address Confirmation and contacts his county voter registrar before October 11, 2022, he may be removed from the suspense list by the county registrar.  If the voter does not return the Notice of Address Confirmation, he remains on the suspense list.
• A voter on the suspense list who does not vote in two consecutive general elections, will be purged from the voter list in even years in December as that voter is considered inactive. So, if you are on the suspense list and did not vote in the November 2020 general election and do not vote in the November 8, 2022 general election, your voter registration will be cancelled after November 30, 2022.

If your voter registration is on the Suspense list on or after October 11, 2022, you can still vote in the November 8, 2022, election.
• A voter who is on the suspense list is eligible to vote in an election provided that the voter completes a Statement of Residence either when voting by mail or at the polls prior to voting (within the same county as the voter’s current registration) or (if the voter has moved to a new county) completes a Limited Ballot application during Early Voting at the main early voting polling place.
• A voter on the suspense list who has moved within the same county would be allowed to vote on Election Day by returning to the precinct in which the voter previously resided and completing a Statement of Residence at that time.
