LWV US CEO Celina Stewart wrote on April 10: "Today is a dark day in politics. The passage of the SAVE Act in the US House is a direct attack on the fundamental right to vote and a dangerous step backward for our democracy." Several people have asked me, "what can we do?" Keep on contacting your elected legislatoirs in DC and in Austin! It is crucial that we keep letting them know how deeply we care about these attacks on our rights. It is crucial that we keep making our voices heard- directly through emails, letters, texts and phone calls and at the ballot box. As Fannie Lou Hamer said, "If you don't speak out ain't nobody going to speak out for you." Links for the Take Action tools on lwv.org and lwvtexas.org are listed below. Take Action today!

Forums and VOTE411 Inform Local Voters

LWV Comal Area invited 31 municipal and school district candidates on the Comal and Guadalupe County May 3, 2025, ballots to participate in our online VOTE411.org voters guide and candidate forums. Local voters can see what's on their ballots and get more information by entering their address on VOTE411.org. Recorded forums for New Braunfels City Council District 1; and Bulverde Mayor and City Council Places 2 & 3, can be viewed on the LWV Comal Area's YouTube channel @lwvcomalarea7096 . A recording of the in-person forum with City of Garden Ridge candidates will be available there after the April 16 event.
