What a finish to our 30th year! I am so excited about the success of our new community outreach program offering voter services at local libraries and community centers year round, about the 2024 Student Art Contest just announced and about our new Board members to be elected at the May Annual Meeting. Thank you to all of you who have worked on these activities and thank you to Tania Rickett and Helena MacCrossan for stepping up to fill the vacancies on our Board of Directors! Read about Tania & Helena in their own words and about the art contest below.
As soon as this newsletter goes out, I'll be packing for the LWV Texas 2024 Convention where our delegation will be learning about the League's new membership structure and exchanging ideas with local League leaders. We'll tell you all about it at the May 9 Annual Meeting! Please register here -there's no charge to attend.

| | | | Meet the New Nominees for the LWVCA Board | Growing up as an Army child, Columbus, GA is where I call home. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the US Air Force, served for 20 years in uniform and still serve as a civil servant on JBSA-Randolph. My family and I moved to San Antonio in 2010, and subsequently to Schertz in 2012, where we raised our two children now 23 and 17 years old. [editor's note, Tania's 17 year old is a student member and frequent volunteer]
Joining the League of Women Voters was sparked from my desire to become knee-deep in defending democracy. I believe it is important for all to understand the importance of making their voices heard at the polls. I am estactic to serve on the Board and I look forward to serving alongside all of you. | | | I joined the League of Women Voters as a student member in 2018, right before the first election I could vote in! I grew up in New Braunfels, graduating from Canyon High School in 2019. In high school, I was inspired to be civically active, primarily through my participation in Girls State and Texas 4-H Congress (a mock state legislature program) and continued my involvement while an undergrad at Texas A&M University as a member of Gig the Vote and Vice President of Municipal Affairs for TAMU Student Government.
After graduating from Texas A&M with my Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science, I moved back to New Braunfels to work as the Admissions Counselor for Howard Payne University New Braunfels, where I am also pursing my Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing. I am excited to resume my engagement with the League as Publicity Chair, sharing all of the phenomenal work our members do.
