(members must log in to see volunteer opportunities and annual meeting details) | | | | From the President
The LWV US and LWV Texas recently published Impact reports for 2023 and the numbers are breathtaking. I hope you will all take a moment to look at these reports (reproduced below) and remind yourself of the larger movement to empower voters and defend democracy that Comal Area members, volunteers and donors are part of when we're registering voters, counting out forms and flyers for high school registration drives, dropping off Voter Guides at food banks, answering voters questions at the local gym or donating to pay for those Voters Guides.
Are you interested in volunteering? Check out the list above and on our website calendar. We are also planning some volunteer orientation sessions to answer any questions potential volunteers have, talk about some of the behind the public events opportunities and to give you a sense of what each opportunity entails. If you're interested, please contact me.
Thank you to each of you for your contributions to our efforts.

| | | | Annual Membership Meeting Scheduled
Make your plan to attend the LWVCA Annual Meeting for some fun socializing, light refreshments and to have your say in your League! The meeting is scheduled May 9, 6:30 p.m. at a new more centrally located space. Members can log in on the website to find the details at Annual Membership Meeting. In addition to voting on the 2024-2025 Budget and new officers, members will be considering Bylaws amendments related to the new membership structure being adopted by the LWV US. The proposed budget, list of nominations and Bylaws amendments will be emailed to members the first week of April. Please ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in the Member Directory on lwvcomal.org.
| Our Volunteers Power the Vote!
Thank you to our Comal Area volunteers who
empowered voters for the Texas Primary Elections! | LWVCA Volunteers Prepare for More Elections
With the Texas Primary elections behind them, LWVCA volunteers are busy gathering information to empower voters for the local May Elections and the May 28 Primary Runoff. One page folded flyers with the key dates and ballot items lists for both May elections, information resources links and tips for voters will be distributed beginning next week. Ballot item information and candidate responses are being gathered for the online Voters Guide VOTE411.org which will go live in early April before early voting starts for the May 4 general election. Voter Services has lined up Get-Out-The-Vote dates at local community locations to provide voter registration and nonpartisan election information. Candidates in local contested races will be invited to participate in VOTE411.org and in recorded candidate forums which will be posted to the LWVCA YouTube channel.
We invite you to join us in these efforts to empower voters and defend democracy. Each member and donor contributes to the nationwide and statewide impacts summarized below. In 2023, LWV Comal Area made person to person contact with 5,814 voters, registered 779, distributed 11,274 printed nonpartisan election information flyers and Voters Guides, hosted 9 recorded candidate forums viewed by 1,204 and reached 1,000-2,000 potential voters per month online and another 60,000-75,000 through VOTE411.org, digital and print advertising, and news releases.
